Do you hear what I hear? Cameron Park is singing!!

Cameron Park has two community choirs: a kid's choir and an adult's choir. The Kid's Choir is called Cantemus Youth Chorus. They meet at the Camerado Springs Middle School on Wednesdays. As a member since January, I have sang different genres of music from Spanish songs, Patriotic songs, a song in Hebrew, and lately my choir has been practicing Christmas songs. The choir's current director is Ponderosa High School's choir director Mrs. Sarah Cunningham. That is interesting because the previous choir director was also Ponderosa's high school director Mrs. Erin Bailey, who started Cantemus.  At Cantemus Youth Chorus's practices, their goal is to:

·         Develop musical skills and knowledge and to teach healthful vocal production

·         To promote cultural awareness and individual expression through musical performance

The practices include:

·         Singing songs of varying genres, tonality, and languages

·         Music reading and aural skill development

·         Kinesthetic connection to music (body movement and/or dance)

They have 2 groups of Cantemus Youth Chorus:

The Sunshine Singers (ages 4-8) from 3:45 to 4:30 pm

The Ambassadors which I sing with (ages 9-18) from 4:40 to 5:30 pm

There is also an adult choir called Cantemus Encore, which my mother sings with, that is directed by El Dorado High School's music director Mrs. Taylor Sabado.  They have also been practicing Christmas songs in their choir for Cantemus' Christmas Concert which is scheduled for December 2.
The concert will have the Sunshine Singers, the Ambassadors, and the Encore all singing Christmas songs starting at 6:00 pm at the Faith Episcopal Church in Cameron Park, CA.  I have enjoyed singing with the Cantemus choir and I love to sing. I would be glad if you were able to attend a Cantemus performance soon.

Cantemus has 2 websites for more information about the choirs:

                                                                               Psalm 33:1-3

Shout for joy in the LORD,O you righteous! Praise makes right the upright. Give thanks to the LORD with the lyre; make melody to him with the harp of ten strings! Sing to him a new song; play skillfully on the strings, with loud shouts.

Thank You for reading my post and GOD bless!!
