In December of 2017, my family and I had the opportunity to see skaters compete for the Olympics at the Olympic Oval in Utah. The oval was built in 2001 for the 2002 Salt Lake Winter Olympics. The venue is in the town of Kearns, 16 minutes west of Salt Lake City which houses Utah's only 400 meter speed skating oval. This venue offers their community:
·
Two
international sized ice-sheets for ice skating and curling
·
eight
110 meter sprint lanes for running
·
Ice
skating for the public for $5 dollars
The oval is
a recreational multi-use facility for communities in the Salt Lake Valley which
focuses on developing and growing participation in ice sports in Utah. Because
of the Olympic speed skaters practicing at this facility, it is home to over
100 world records in speed skating. It was fun seeing the skaters skating
really fast and competing against each other to compete in the Winter Olympics.
I am thankful that I observed the skaters competing for the Olympics and I hope
that you can visit an Olympic trial some day.
I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
Philippians
3:14
