A hidden gem in Cameron Park!!

There is a new film studio called the Foothill Art and Media Collective that just opened in Cameron Park. The studio is in the back office of the Dish repair shop next to Valero at 2653-B Green Valley Road in Cameron Park. It is operated by a former stand-up comedian Mr. Jimmy Turner who graced the stage in 48 states across the USA and has been live on NBC, CBS, and a few of Sacramento's news channels when he was a comedian. But things changed when his daughter was diagnosed  with autism. He put his family first and halted the road trips. Currently, Mr. Turner is working with his son Sawyer on a Father-Son stand-up comedy routine. Sawyer, when he was 9 years old, performed at a talent show at Rescue School.

The new studio has been open for 2 weeks and is by Appointment only. My mother booked an appointment so we could visit this new studio last Thursday. At the visit, I talked to Mr. Turner about this new film studio and what they are doing. He films commercials for businesses in the local Cameron Park area and He showed us his commercial that he filmed for the Mexican restaurant Fernando's Costa Del Sol across the street, which convinced us to eat lunch at Fernando's.

At the studio, they set up a green screen, which is a background in front of moving objects being filmed that allows a separately filmed background to be added in the final image. With the screen, his daughter can say that she wants to be at the beach and with the green screen he can turn on his camera and show her a video of being at the beach.

With that, the Studio also has:

·         Studio Lighting / Multiple Arrays

·         Multiple Backdrops

·         Multiple HD Video Cameras

·         Multiple Audio Recording Devices / Mics

·         Tripods, Monopods, Production Equipment

·         Acoustic Foam Protected Walls

·         Video Editing Services

·         A Growing Collection of Props

Thank You for looking at my writing of this new film studio and I hope that you can use the studio sometime!!

The History of the Bible is finally revealed!!

The new Museum of the Bible in the U.S. capital of Washington D.C. is now open!! The museum is located three blocks from the U.S. Capitol building at 400 4th St. SW. At this new Bible museum, they are dedicated to talking about the History, Narrative, and Impact of the Bible. Their amazing exhibits at this museum are:

·         A reconstruction of an ancient city in the valley of Elah where David fought Goliath.

·         Manuscripts talking about the Christmas story from the fifteenth century

·         John Newton's Amazing Grace exhibit talks about how this song impacted people's lives

·         An art exhibit by Makoto Fujimura talking about the Gospel

·         The World of Jesus of Nazareth which talks about the world during Jesus' ministry

·         The Bible through American History

The Museum of the Bible is eight stories tall and has 430,000 square feet of space, which makes it the world largest Bible museum.  The Bible artifacts and texts at the museum are from the Green's (the family who owns the Hobby Lobby stores) collection. This new museum opened its doors on November 17th 2017, after seven years of working on the plans for the museum. The reason why they opened this museum was to teach people about the importance of God's word, the Bible. They have a program called the One Million Names for people who have donated to the museum. If you donate to the museum, they will display your name on the museum wall to honor your decision. I hope that you enjoyed looking at my post and that you can visit the museum soon!!

Looking for a Christian store to shop at?

The LifeWay Christian Store in Sacramento

If you are looking for a Christian store to shop at in the Sacramento region, there is a Life Way Christian Store in Sacramento. It is located at 2659 Alta Arden Expressway off of Fulton Avenue nearby the Arden Fair Mall. At this Life Way store, they offer their customers:

·         Bible Studies

·         Bibles

·         Books and Magazines

·         Church Supplies

·         Gifts- Cards and Signs

·         Music and Movies

I visited this store the day after thanksgiving. Although it's usually a crazy shopping day, it was a peaceful experience browsing at books, listening to Christian music, and sipping hot apple cider. The location is huge with all the Christian items from communion cups to wonderful wall art. My favorite things at this store was looking at the CDs (Gaithers, Mercy Me, and Casting Crowns), the movies and the Veggie Tale items. I really liked shopping at this store and I am thankful that they have a Life Way store in Sacramento.

Do you hear what I hear? Cameron Park is singing!!

Cameron Park has two community choirs: a kid's choir and an adult's choir. The Kid's Choir is called Cantemus Youth Chorus. They meet at the Camerado Springs Middle School on Wednesdays. As a member since January, I have sang different genres of music from Spanish songs, Patriotic songs, a song in Hebrew, and lately my choir has been practicing Christmas songs. The choir's current director is Ponderosa High School's choir director Mrs. Sarah Cunningham. That is interesting because the previous choir director was also Ponderosa's high school director Mrs. Erin Bailey, who started Cantemus.  At Cantemus Youth Chorus's practices, their goal is to:

·         Develop musical skills and knowledge and to teach healthful vocal production

·         To promote cultural awareness and individual expression through musical performance

The practices include:

·         Singing songs of varying genres, tonality, and languages

·         Music reading and aural skill development

·         Kinesthetic connection to music (body movement and/or dance)

They have 2 groups of Cantemus Youth Chorus:

The Sunshine Singers (ages 4-8) from 3:45 to 4:30 pm

The Ambassadors which I sing with (ages 9-18) from 4:40 to 5:30 pm

There is also an adult choir called Cantemus Encore, which my mother sings with, that is directed by El Dorado High School's music director Mrs. Taylor Sabado.  They have also been practicing Christmas songs in their choir for Cantemus' Christmas Concert which is scheduled for December 2.
The concert will have the Sunshine Singers, the Ambassadors, and the Encore all singing Christmas songs starting at 6:00 pm at the Faith Episcopal Church in Cameron Park, CA.  I have enjoyed singing with the Cantemus choir and I love to sing. I would be glad if you were able to attend a Cantemus performance soon.

Cantemus has 2 websites for more information about the choirs:

Shout for joy in the LORD,O you righteous! Praise makes right the upright. Give thanks to the LORD with the lyre; make melody to him with the harp of ten strings! Sing to him a new song; play skillfully on the strings, with loud shouts.

While I was there, I talked to the owner Mr. Ken Santoro and 2 of their employees about this new shop and how it's doing for them. It was a nice visit to this local coffee shop with the nice service and the warm setting in the shop. I would encourage you to get a cup of coffee at Cafe Santoro's and to visit the shop.

A Fresh Start for the women in Mexico!

A Fresh Start for the women in Mexico!

The story today is about a place that's helping the women in Mexico. Mujeres Nuevo Comienzo (Spanish for Fresh start for Women) is a home for Women wanting a fresh start in their lives.  Where is it at? It's located 175 miles south of the San Diego Border. At this home, the women will be:
·         Fed spiritually
·         Loved unconditionally
·         Provided food, clothing, medical care, and a shelter.
·         Taught basic literacy and life skills
·         Trained and equipped with work skills
By this, they are helping women overcome their addictions and experiencing the love of Jesus Christ through this home. M.N.C. opened its doors to the Mexican women in 2011 to help those desiring a transformation in their lives. I first heard about this ministry at a fundraiser at my friend's house where the owner of M.N.C. talked about the ministry and what they do. A few years ago, my family and I had the privilege to be missionaries on a YWAM trip to Mexico, staying at the local orphanage seeing the kids and helping the people at the orphanage. It was truly an amazing experience being on a mission trip to Mexico and seeing the needs of this community in which M.N.C. serves.
Mujeres Nuevo Comienzo has a website with a video that talks about this home:    http://www.mncfreshstart.org/
                                                               Jeremiah 29:11
For I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord, plans to Prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a Hope and a Future.
Isaiah 45:3                                                                            I will give you treasures of darkness, riches stored in secret places so that you may know that I am the Lord, the God of Israel, who summons you by name.
I would encourage you to watch the video about this ministry and find ways to partner with M.N.C.   Thank You for reading the post and God bless!!

Flying brave at the fashion show

The Fly Brave Foundation is an organization that helps kids with Autism by training them to become adults and have jobs. The reason why I'm talking about them because I was a model at the Fly Brave Foundation's fashion show on September 10th at the California Auto Museum. At the show, I was the Barbershop singer with the cane singing the barbershop song, Chordbuster March. Before my segment, I had the privilege to talk to the models of the show and their families, about their interests and what my interests are. It was a very fun experience meeting all the people and singing to them. The models at the fashion show were an A's fan, a butterfly, a cowgirl, a runner, and many other kids with fun outfits and personalities.  Tony Lopez from CBS 13 News was at the fashion show.

The Fly Brave Foundation wants to help kids with autism build social skills, confidence and friendships.  Mrs. Vanessa Bieker is the founder of the Fly Brave Foundation who has a son that is non verbal that loves to run and is working on qualifying for the Boston marathon.  It was an entertaining experience being a model at the fashion show!!

Sleeping after rockin' in Wexford, Pennsylvania

While my family and I were on vacation, we stayed at a brand new hotel called the Hampton Inn in the small town of Wexford, PA, 20 minutes north of Pittsburgh. The hotel is located at 2622 Wexford Bayne Road west of Interstate 79. During our stay, we toured Pittsburgh  and attended the Christian parody band ApologetiX's 25th Anniversary concert.   I was very happy to stay in a nice, new hotel with sweet customer service. At this Hampton Inn location, the amenities are:

·        88 rooms which have a 42 inch TV, mini fridge, a Cuisinart coffee maker, a nice chair and table to work on, free Wi-Fi access, and  their clean Hampton beds.  All 100% non smoking.

·        Free breakfast

·        A Pool and Fitness room

·        Business Center

·        Lobby

·        Meeting rooms

This new hotel opened on April 6th of 2016 to serve guests north of Pittsburgh in the Wexford/Ross Township area. If you're looking at visiting Pittsburgh and want a country setting, this hotel would be a good choice.

For some great Christian parody rock music, check out ApologetiX's website: http://apologetix.com/

                                                         3 John 1:8

We ought therefore to show hospitality to such people so that we may work together for the truth.
